Sometimes, we stumble across a video that is so visually and aurally appealing that we could watch it on repeat ad infinitum. And today, we’re inflicting that same curse upon you, with this incredible ode to the 500PS Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1. Join YouTube legends Belgian Motorsport on the sidelines of Zandvoort’s Historic Grand Prix, and watch in awe as the beautiful widetail Porsche is prepped before being set loose on the circuit.
But this isn’t just any old Porsche… This chassis was, in fact, the first turbo-powered Porsche 911 and the first turbo Porsche to be driven in anger at Le Mans, debuting at the 1974 24 Hours race test weekend.
Throughout that season it saw a brace of impressive results, in the hands of Gijs van Lennep and Herbert Müller, before it was retired to the Porsche Museum later that year. It was recently subject to a nuts and bolts restoration, ahead of Porsche's 70th anniversary celebrations in 2018, and has been seen in action at our very own Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and other such events.
