The 79th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport is this weekend, and wouldn’t you know it. We’re really rather excited to see some V10 F1 cars take to our circuit for some singing laps, along with all the other associated motorsport and festivities of the meeting.
So yes, we’re wasting most of our downtime watching old videos of cars from this era, from Grands Prix roundups to testing onboards. Today, we’ll be sharing some of the latter with you. Join Aguri Suzuki as he gets his first test of the Footwork FA13 at Snetterton in preparation for the 1992 season. That’s the thrumming howling sound of the Mugen-Honda MF-351H V10, the last factory-sanctioned V10 of the early 1990s before the marque’s sabbatical from the sport. Joining Aguri Suzuki on the team, and indeed in testing, was five-time Grand Prix winner Michele Alboreto.
Where are they testing? Of all places, Snetterton in Norfolk. If a contemporary F1 car set foot testing there today there would be hysteria. Not that we’d be able to hear a contemporary F1 car as it took its testing laps, compared to the old Mugen-Honda V10, which must have rattled the foundations of nearby Eccles, Wilby and East Harling.
