The driver is Chris Slade, and he’s up against a Mini estate that is also quite clearly modified. But where the Quattro beast seems to be a rocket on the straights and a tricky swine on the corners, with Chris patiently waiting to get back on the throttle, his rival seems to be able to carry more speed through the bends and get on the power earlier. The pair have strengths in different areas, then. To make the battle even more entertaining Chris is dealing with a gearbox that clearly wants to retire from motorsport, and after 10 minutes or so they both start lapping traffic. Honestly, how either of these drivers keep the cars on the black stuff is beyond us.
