With the news that this year’s 24 Heures du Mans has been postponed until August, we have been looking back fondly out some of the best on track battles. And this graceful dance between a Porsche 911 and Ford GT has to be one of our favourites.
Watch as drivers Frédéric Makowiecki and Sébastien Bourdais, racing for Porsche and Ford respectively, dart around one another in the deftest of driving displays. Around the historic Circuit de la Sarthe, the duo duel for second place during the 2018 edition of the legendary race.
However, perhaps the hero of this clip is neither driver, but Bourdais’ father, who cheers him on from the pit garage. Nothing brings a parent more pride than seeing their offspring excel, and Bourdais is at the top of his game. From the epic, on track angles, the cameras cut to the parent, whose face is picture of emotion. While the Porsche GT Team remain steely faced, Bourdais’ proud pere vividly lives the race from the sidelines.
