We could spend all day watching Bathurst onboards. Sadly, what we could do and what we have time for are two different things. Still, 15 minutes of Mountain magic isn’t too much time out of the day, is it? Especially when it’s a 360-degree video shot from the centre of a 991.3 911 GT3 Cup.
The man behind the wheel is Alex Davison, a man who’s familiar not just with 911s, having won the Australian Carrera Cup in 2004 and raced them in the Porsche Supercup, European Le Mans Series, World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans, but with Bathurst, having raced there every year for nearly two decades.
The out lap is relatively calm, with Davison taking the time to work his way up and down through the gears while putting temperature into the brakes and tyres. With all of that over, it’s time to dance, and Davison puts his foot down for four delightfully fast laps as the sun sets and the headlights become a necessity. Fifteen minutes of bliss.
