Pagani has released a teaser for a new hypercar and as is often the case with the boutique Italian marque, it’s a version of the old hypercar. The Utopia might be in production but we’re soon to see a new version of the Huayra.
So like the Zonda, we can expect the Huayra to linger even now a replacement has come on stream. So what exactly is this variant? Well, it’s not exactly been clear on that, so some deduction is needed. The Huayra, Roadster, BC, BC Roadster, Tempesta, Tempesta Roadster, BC Tempesta and BC Tempesta Roadster are all known entities.
The R and the Imola are both out and about. The R is a track-only special that’s unlikely to get its roof chopped off any time soon… but the Imola? That’s a road-going (albeit track-focused) Huayra variant that’s yet to pop its top and if you look at this teaser, you can see this is a Roadster. Our working theory? This is the Huayra Imola Roadster.
Pagani stated in its social media teasers that the model will be the latest to come from its special projects division Grandi Complicazioni, which is most famously responsible for the ultra-limited long-tailed Huayra Codalunga. So this new car is sure to be limited in the single figures, with prices in the high seven figures.
The Imola was the most extreme road legal derivation of the Huayra platform, featuring aggressive downforce-generating bodywork – the wing is evidently shared on this unnamed Roadster variant – and an 827PS (608kW), 1,100Nm (811lb-ft) version of the 6.0-litre twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG V12. Just five were made, so expect production numbers for this car to be no more than that when it's revealed.
