Video: Launching a V8 Mustang along the Autobahn
If you have a moderately performance-orientated car with some go under the bonnet, it’s definitely crossed your mind at some stage that you want to let it loose on the German Autobahn. There, and of course the Nürburgring. Well, the driver of this 1966 Ford Mustang 4.7-litre V8 is living the first part of that dream.
Ride on board for a driver’s eye view, taking the original pony car to its upper limits on the world’s fastest public roads. We hear the V8 rising up through the gears, climbing through the revs as the speed builds. Granted, it’s not the most powerful ‘Stang, with just over 200PS (147kW) to play with but it's a test all the same for what is near-on a 60-year-old car. Speeds approaching 130mph have the panel gaps and rubbers whistling and the V8 revving high. Oh, the temptation to plan a trip of our own…
