There comes a point when building a racing car, where you have to ask, does this thing have any right to share a name with the standard vehicle that it once was? For instance, the Zakspeed Capri… isn’t really a Capri anymore. This is where the super silhouette idea comes from. A car that underneath is a bespoke racer, it just happens to wear some bodywork vaguely resembling a production car.
With all this in mind, we present to you this Mk3 Golf. Unlike most Mk3 golfs, it’s got a sequential transmission and full carbon bodywork. We would however, in spite of the insanity of this onboard clip, still class it as a Golf. The stripped-out interior clearly exposes what remains a Golf underpinning. Still, it’s a fair way away from its grocery-getter origins. Just listen to that screaming 20-valver sing!
