We’re not sure why we’ve watched this video several times, but there’s just something about it. Maybe it’s the sound of a high-revving flat-six engine, or perhaps it’s the foliage-lined curves of the Monza circuit. Or it could be the fact that this is the new Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring. Yes, that’s it. We’re transfixed.
Shared by 19Bozzy92 a matter of days ago, it already has almost 80,000 views – testament to just how exciting Porsche’s new 992-generation GT3 and GT3 Touring models are.
Both have retained that naturally aspirated flat-six for which they are famed, and while the GT3 pairs it with the usual PDK gearbox, the YouTuber suspects the new Touring will boast a manual gearbox, like the 991 GT3 Touring. In the caption he writes: “In this video the gear changes are very quick but you can spot a 'manual' behaviour at 1:55 or at 5:12”.
Admittedly, the footage was filmed back in October 2018, and shows the mules in the early-stage development, so it’s not a true representation of their current form. In his caption, 19Bozzy92 elaborates: “By watching some recent footage from the last week on the Nordschleife you can clearly see how the work progressed with the addition of a new front bumper and air intakes on the front hood”.
Whatever it looks like, we’re very, very happy it exists, and desperately want to see it without the black camo. Come on Porsche. Give us an early Christmas present.
