The car is usually the star of our tea-break-ready elevenses videos, but today, it's the production values that take your breath away as we join God Save the Wheels for a full stint at the 2023 Le Mans Classic in 4K HD quality and from the fabulous cockpit of a 1965 Porsche 911 2.0.
As anyone who's been to Le Mans Classic knows, motorsport doesn't get much more evocative than sitting at the end of the Mulsanne straight as Ford GT40s, bellowing AC Cobras, and screaming Ferrari 250GTs bear down on you. The sound getting ever closer before passing in a theatre of noise that leaves your ears to unscramble what the devil just happened to them.
But, the driver of this Porsche arguably has an even better place to watch the action unfold. Seriously down on power, the 911 serves as a ringside seat to enjoy the V8s and V12s of the big-gun competition as they pass with mere inches to spare.
Not that we want to take away from the display of driving excellence within the 911's cabin. The Porsche may be short of horsepower, but early 911s didn't earn their widowmaker status for nothing, as our driver demonstrates, driving with a precision worthy of the tricky machine.
Sadly, a desperate hunt of the Le Mans Classic website only confirms what we already feared – weekend tickets sold long ago. Oh well, there's always next year.
